Having a laugh at rehearsal last night with the Kristian Baker all Stars featuring Ritchard on keys, Al on bass and Wez on drums! Add Comment Had a gig with the Kristian Baker Band last week and a comedy video has turned up of me and the guys giving it large. I have been getting into composition recently after approaching several short film students about providing music for there films and as a result have composed a couple of new pieces. The first is for a romantic breakup thing and the second one is about a young girl living with a faulty heart. You can check them out at So its been a busy start to the year and thought i had better start updating this site a bit more frequently as people have been checking it out but nothing new has gone up so i will try and get on top of that. Its a place for me to upload things i have been working on, so what has been going on. Well firstly i had a lovely trip at the start of last month to Paris for a gig with the all stars and i was taken in by how lovely Paris looked even though we were only there short amount of time i think i will have to get back there pretty soon. I also had a fantastic time flying to Poland to record guitars for the ever so brilliant and talented Kelli Leigh. The album sounds amazing and cant wait for it to come out. It was a great great time and Seba and Annett made me very welcome so thanks guys and Kellis vocals were sick so make sure you check her out at www.kellileigh.com So i am putting the finishing touches to my album this week. I am just waiting for a bass track to come back and then a final tweak and it should be out early July. I am getting my pictures done this week and going to try my hardest to look menacing and guitary like but there will be no pointy head stocks or leather trousers sadly (though i am sure there websites out there if that is your kinda thing!). Been toying with the name of the album for some time and think i have settled on it now but i have till sunday to change my mind if i wish. Hey guys and gals here is a quick up load i did of me playing along to my track Darkness Breaking. Feel free to leave any comments. The guitar parts are all recorded now and just gonna try and mix them all in the next couple of weeks so will keep you posted. Thanks K Hey guys have just uploaded one of the new tracks from my album to give you a feel for whats coming up. Its called BG Hope you enjoy and feel free to contact me here if any questions. Thanks K So the months are flying past now and thought i should do an update for all 4 of you that may read this. So first and most importantly i have now got 5 tracks pretty much done for the album and am working on the 6th. It has been hugely fun and god awful at the same time. Its great getting the tracks down without having to compromise or having to rely on band members and being able to record at 4 in the morning if i so want to. I am well chuffed the way the tracks have come out so far and although i understand it is a guitar instrumental album (and it has loads of shred on there) i dont want it to just be a relentless hit of guitar work. I think that having a good balance with all instruments will in the end make for a much more pleasing album to even non guitar players. This is where the frustration can come in. It can be hard work trying to mix on your own and by this i mean i have spent endless hours listening to the tracks on i pods, car stereo's, monitors etc and it all ways sounds different and not all ways for the best but i am coming to the conclusion that however warped and unbalanced the final out come will be it will surely be a documentation of where i am at at a particular time. Hopefully lessons will be learnt and the next album will be even better but hey lets get the first one done. I have to bear in mind that it is a "home studio" recording and hopefully it will be all the better for it. Anyway the track i am working on now has turned into an epic orchestral movement and will not have a guitar any where in it which i imagine will be very welcome after 8 tracks of shredding !!!!. Will keep u updated with the on goings of it and any words of advice are all ways welcome. On to other things breifily. Miss Kelli Leigh, www.kellileigh.com is flying high and writing awesome tunes in sunny Poland so we should be hearing some big new tunes from her soon. Mr Chris Holmes is a very good friend of mine and has a brain the size of a clementine and he and George have remixed Stanley Kubricks 2001 Space Oddssey to a filth of Dubstep and it is available for free download for the next 30 days free here ... http://www.yousendit.com/download/M3BsR0lZeDNtMEs5TE1UQw. Also Mr Samer Sharawi will be running his excellent Jazz jam night in Hoxton at the Road Trip Baron wed night and i highly recommend a visit. Cool well let me know thoughts and i will speak soon. K Hey all i have to inform you all of this fantastic night that is run by the amazing bass player and friend of mine Mr Samer Sharawi. It is the perfect jazz jam night set in Hoxton at the road trip bar. The set list is put up online each week so you can learn a tune or you can just get up and jam or have a beer and watch. The night features some amazing players and a great atmosphere so check it out here for photos, film and all the information you need. Thanks Keir http://www.facebook.com/events/301881513203966/?ref=ts http://hoxtonjamnight.co.uk/ Good morning to you one and all i hope you are well. Just thought i would put a little update up as i have finally after about 10 years decided to start working on an instrumental album (lots of guitar but hopefully some great other performances by fellow musician friends of mine). I have so far recorded 2 tracks and am working on the 3rd at the moment. They are all recorded at home with Logic and sound good but not sure they sound pro enough for an album so am looking for any advice about how to go about this. I was thinking of using these as good demo's and then getting involved with this great website called Pledge where by people fund the making of your album and the money is only taken once the amount is reached that you have asked for. this is a great great idea and enables the artist to retain complete control over their music. This is a great idea but think some tiny fanbase is required to give you the money. Check out the website at http://www.pledgemusic.com/ Failing this i am going to look at getting people to do online recording and sharing in the form of session players. This of course costs money, AS IT SHOULD DO!!! but again if anyone knows off anybody who offers such a service get in contact. I will put the first track up just so you can get an idea of what i have been up to. |
